Robur Capital was founded in January 2016 by 4 driven entrepreneurs with over 80 years of combined business experience. Our mission: to provide capital and operational support to entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized companies so that they can realize their ambitions – growth, acquisitions and transfers.
Belgium is traditionally home to many SMEs. Whereas most private equity funds target medium-sized and large companies, Robur Capital deliberately focuses on smaller successful businesses with an annual EBITDA between EUR 1 and 7 million. Accomplishing growth and promoting professionalism in this sector are key drivers for us.
A representative study of small and medium-sized family businesses in Belgium found that 60% of the entrepreneurs surveyed want to hand over the business within 10 years. Of those entrepreneurs who want to transfer the business to the next generation, 60% see financial obstacles. Moreover, 55% are looking for a successor outside the family.
In short, there is a need for external capital in Robur Capital’s target segment. Together with our experience, we are happy to make that available to companies that meet our investment criteria.
